NYC is a walking city. You can do so many things and get so much accomplished just by walking here and there.

But yet sometimes I am impatient being stuck in a taxi or car in slow traffic and have been known to get out f the car and walk the rest of the way. And sometimes rather than getting on a subway or bus, I prefer to walk if I have the time.

Some cities like LA and Pheonix AZ make me a little nuts. You always have to drive wherever you want to go and especially in LA parking your car in those parking buildings going round and round from one level to the other is torture.

Yes, I do like to walk. When I had to go downtown for my jury duty case I had to walk to get to the court house and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I saw shops I had never seen before, because when I usually drive I don't really pay much attention to what's next to me. The only time I don't like walking is when it is hot as hell outside, plus I live in Tucson, so you have to drive to get to most places.

i love walking, especially just being able to walk a reasonable distance to everything i need- s'why i love living on the edge of campus so much. i'm probably gonna hate moving back home to Maryland for a while, because i'd have to drive everywhere. i HATE walking when its humid, or so cold my nostrils hurt when i breathe. Its been humid as balls here lately so i've been keeping the outdoors time to a minimum

one of the many joys of living in this gay friendly neighborhood (marigny-bywater) of new orleans is walking around, checking out the gay guys and checking out the late 1800's/early 1900's houses.

since this is a designated historical neighborhood, the houses are either well kept or on their way to being renovated. there's always something new to observe..a new paint job, trees blooming, restaurant chalk board, shirtless cute guy....icon_lol.gif

i know SO many peeps in this area just from seeing them on the streets as i slowly stroll thru the area! it's led to some ...interesting...conversations and sometimes ... more. apparently old houses are a sexual turn on for gay guys...icon_wink.gif

Walking is my preferred method of cardio. If I need a more intense cardio, I walk faster or run. It's also my preferred method of transportation whenever practical.

Yes, I walk everywhere and I love walkable cities.

When I'm in the city I walk fast and zoom around all the tourists. I've been known to walk miles in Chicago during all types of weather to get to my destination.

Whenever I go to NYC I avoid Times Square because I'm used to walking fast and don't want to get stuck behind crowds of people shuffling along the sidewalk.

Walking is faster than taking the bus, taxi and even sometimes the subway. Hate being stuck on the subway during a hot day.

I do.. I try and walk instead of driving short distances... always go up stairs and walk the beagles. It is good exercise, both physically and mentally.

I walk or ride a bike everywhere. I visited my parents in OKC a while back. Such a great city. However, it is not a walking city. My parents told me that it is the "Fatest" city in the US. I think they might be right, but I have seen no statistics on that. I did note that there are very few actual sidewalks in the city. I love Munich, all the sidwalks are wide and are usually divided in half. One side is for bikes and the other for pedestrian traffic. So Cool!

I Love walking. I intentionally park 8 blocks away from my work place so it gives me a good chance to walk in morning and then in the evening.
Also when I was in Toronto went everywhere walking, its a pretty city to be on foot.

I've been thinking about walking to the Post Office and back instead of driving. It's only a 1.6 mile rd trip. At 96 degrees I better take some water huh. icon_wink.gif

Walking is OK, and in specific instances a lot more practical than driving (right now my gym is a block away from my apartment, but since it's in a busy city thoroughfare it would take me almost 3 times as long to drive there than to walk given the fact I have to drive to the next block just to take the roundabout and then maneuver the parking situation, as opposed to the 2 minutes it would take walking).

Generally on the West Coast driving does end up being the better mode of transport, unfortunately.

I love to walk. I have seen so many interesting things when I walk. I also walk to the grocery store which is just across the street from where I live. Now that it is 100 degrees out, I will probably do less of it.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidRemember to always wear high quality walking shoes. You only get one pair of feet. Take good care of them.

I swear by these. I have several pairs in different colors.

May I borrow these from you. I want to prance in my hot pink speedo and walk across a busy street. Do you think I will get noticed??

    IS THIS Legal ??
