I have searched the forums for this topic but came out with more/less unrelated content (I'm bad at searching maybe).

Either way, this is a question to all the photographers on this site, what are some tips on taking good self shots with a mediocre priced digital camera (Canon SD1000 for example). icon_cool.gif

I have cruddy pics that no one replies to, when they meet me in person (if they are willing to risk it- yes I live in San Diego - the gays are savage and will devour you icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif:twistedicon_smile.gif they give me a big shebang about my cruddy pics. Alas!

    PS I am not fishing....

    1. Take off your shirt.

    2. Use good lighting, outdoors good if you don't squint.

    3. Fill the frame with your head and torso, people want to see your eyes and your body.

    4. Take a ton of pictures and a good one will find its way in there.

    5. Oh, and don't center your face (unless just a head shot). Your head should be at the top of the frame.

Your pics look fine. You could use to thicken your skin a bit, however.

My last batch of pics were cruddy on purpose because I get tired of setting up the lights and tripods and shit. They still get comments.

The reason yours get no joy is because you're not shirtless with a rockin' 6-pack, or flexing your arms. You need the obligatory RJ bicep in the mirror shot. It's an all-time favorite.

I'd still "risk it" though if I were local, though. icon_wink.gif

I think your photos are good.

    Here's a tip:

Get a camera that allows you to video and then go frame by frame to "capture" a frame as a photograph. Use the camera to video yourself trying differing "looks". Choose the best.

Might I suggest the Canon 5D Mark II? That's one of my dream cameras...aside from the Hasselblad and Red. :winks:

    1. Google "Jake Gyllenhaal" or "Chris Evans."

    2. Click on the link for "Images."

    3. Select an image you like.

    4. Right click the image and download to your computer.

    5. Crop out the face.

    6. Upload the cropped photo to your profile.
