Therefore, if George Bush and other Republicans have NOT issued such proclamations in the past & present, even stopping in some cases a tradition their predecessors had followed, should we conclude that they DON'T want our gay votes? No problem, happy to oblige them! icon_biggrin.gif

Another "grand" gesture designed to quiet a vocal minority, placate, molly-coddle even. Nobody cares about this except an incredibly small percentage of the population.

As if issuing the LGBT month proclamation really took much of his time? icon_confused.gif

I'm wondering if ANY productive discussion EVER comes out of someone posting something that's even remotely political on this site. Everything is basically a rorschach test and people react in the ways they are predisposed to react...yet everyone keeps posting this stuff...

Hey why don't you talk to companies who outsourced jobs to India, not Obama.

This is my opinion. Even though it doesn't take much effort to say that June is the new "gay month", it brings much needed attention to the gay community as a thing that is here to stay. Change will not occur until we have more visibility.

Don't know why some people say LGBT when it's GLBT, because certainly down here in Oz it's us guy who did all the ground work, there would never of been an open gay community it it was not for all the hard ground work we did, so I find it hard to support anything under LGBT, when it is GLBT.

How much more in your face do you want the gay community to be? I feel this was nothing more than lip service. Actions speak louder than words, and those parades say a lot.

Well in states like North Carolina, there is not as much visibility of the gay community. I think there is a lot more that can be done in order to show that gay people live throughout the USA rather than just in California and New York.

Don't expect one man to fix everything overnight.
It's not the government's job to create jobs, only to stimulate the market for innovation.

Sweetie, no one is denying that we have a spill in the gulf. To add to that, no one is denying our crappy economy, the financial crisis in Europe, or even the obesity problem in America. I don't think there is a problem with also bringing up social issues. There will always be political issues to deal with. three is never an "ideal" time to discuss any issue; you just have to do it.
