Don't take the big ones so deep. They hurt the next day.

Taking vitamin C to ward off/treat a cold has never been scientifically proven to be effective, but taking zinc has! Get yourself some Zicam lozenges, drink lots of warm fluids (licorice root tea is good, Celestial Seasonings makes one called Sore Throat Soother or something like that, and you don't have to add honey or sugar because it's already sweet), and rest.

Try gargling salt water. If you can find it, a few drops of oil of oregano on the back of the throat works wonders.

This is going to sound gross, but it works. My ENT suggested it.

Put half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water, then sniff it up your nose (preferably with a syringe - without the needle, obviously). Once you've finished this, all the post nasal drip that is causing the irritation should be clear and the pain/inflammation should go away within a few hours. Blow your nose gently so as not to damage your eardrums.

It might feel unconfortable at first, but you'll get used to it. And once your throat is no longer inflamed, you can take the Big Ones again (Ha ha!).

Oh no! Strep throat. icon_sad.gif ha idk but thanks for reminding me to take my vitamins today. 5x a year I get strep. It sucks. Good luck man. Lots of water at about room temperature is easier, a little on the cool side for swelling.

The easiest solution for a sore throat is to gargle water with Cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper has Capsaicin which reduces pain and has antiseptic properties.

Normal saline nosespray, zinc, and gargle with saltwater. Ususally a sore throat is a symptom of a cold, and you can't make the cold go away, but this should aleaviate some of the symptoms. Take ibuproferin for the pain too.

Sore throats can come from many different things and viruses (strep etc), and also an std. I would have it checked out because sometimes antibiotics can be prescribed to get rid of it. If it's just from a common flu or cold bug, that can not be treated, then at least you know, but throat lozenges then can relieve the discomfort until it goes away on its own.

If drinking water hurts, you probably need more than Vitamin C and hot tea. Try to get yourself some of the fun antibiotics.

Most sore throats are viral and antibiotics won't work anyway. Beta Streptococcus is bacterial and some antibiotics may help if sore throat lasts more than 4 or 5 days. You just have to let virus run its' course. Again, I use one whole lemon mixed with a tbsp or 2 of Bourbon/Whiskey and honey, heat it up just a little not too much obviously because of the alcohol. Also use Ginger Chews from Trader Joes. Feel better soonicon_smile.gif

What's worked for me was Listerine in the morning. Like 3 times in the morning 30 seconds each.

And then feed myself nutrition by drinking ginger ale all day. Sounds unhealthy but it works for me.

Whenever I get a sore throat I always treat it with Vicodin and vodka.

Also works great for paper cuts and ingrown toenails.

Do you have cold symptoms? If not and the throat is getting worse you should get some antibiotics because its strep. It can lead to complications if left untreated. Especially if youre going out of town start the antibiotics now and youll feel better by the time you get where you're going ;)

Place an aspirin ("BUFFERIN") on the back of your tongue and let it dissolve so that the grains of aspirin hit the sore spot in your throat. Don't drink anything.
Don't do this while you're lying down.

It's been my experience that this kills a sore throat almost immediately.
