I spot unrecognizable celebs on the streets of New York all the time and several years ago Rue was one of them. She was wearing a floppy hat, no makeup, looked 110 and was teeny-tiny. A friend of mine knew Estelle Gettleman and gave the same description. With luck, we'll all make it to being wizened, tiny and unrecognizable. Rue had a good run!

Forget "The Golden Girls" - at 4:54 sec below you can see Rue looking her absolute best making her "post-facelift entrance" on "Maude." (In earlier episodes they aged her with makeup and she was a sharp-tongued foil to Bea Arthur; shortly after she was prettified, the character was significantly dumbed down.)
