I usually have some around but to be honest it's a big expense. My preference is to have prepared food and snacks like nuts, fruit and such, using the powders and bars as a rare exception.

So to answer directly I try keeping healthy natural things ready and available. Downside is it takes more planning!

Question? Is muscle milk bad for you. My boss told me it has too much sugar and I shouldnt drink it. This is the pre made one. BUT I freakin love it. Its good.

I love muscle milk, but consumer reports found it's got all kinds of shit in it like arsenic and lead. Not too cool icon_sad.gif

Muscle Milk is also high in fat. icon_cry.gif It taste great though!

As for the OP- you can make your own protein bars if you have the time... it's cheaper and you have better control over how much protein/fat/carbs are in it.

Some sugar is necessary for proper absorption of protein. The simple carbs shuttle the protein into the muscle after a workout. However, studies also suggest that purchasing pre-mixed protein drinks drastically reduces the efficacy of the product. I use the AdvoCare Post-Workout Recovery right after my weight workouts, because it comes in powder form and mixes easily with water. That way it's portable and still retains its efficacy. Yummy too.

I've recently switched to beef jerky for my protein fix. No bloating, no mixing, just open the bag and enjoy. It's a bit more expensive, but it tastes better and seems to be working much better (have a Bowflex body scale to show the numbers before the mirror shows anything). According to the numbers, I'm gaining muscle mass and losing body fat faster than with protein powder.
