The HTC EVO is the best Android phone IMO. Love the screen and the overall design ain't bad. However the EVO is way heavier and thicker than the new iPhone, actually the iPhone 4 compared to all top smartphones(windows and android) is the thinnest and one of lightest ones. The EVO has a lower battery life and even when having a bigger screen it offers a lower image quality compared to iPhone 4's resolution. Camera wise the EVO offers 8MP vs 5MP on the iPhone, the iPhone however can record video at 720p 30fps vs 720 25 fps on the EVO. They both have a front facing camera and LED flash. The evo comes with 8GB upgradable up to 32GB, the iPhone will be offering 16GB and 32GB built in.

I think the iPhone 4 wins this one.

A coworker of mine has one. It's a really very nice phone. If you're into the front facing camera a it might be EVO if only that you're not limited to WIFI. Widgets are another possible thing Android has to boost it along with changing out your batter and expandable memory.

That being said, I'm not convinced that an Android phone is going to be competing for iPhone customers. To me they seem to cater to two different types of people. Competition is good for us all though. So bring it on Apple and Google!

It will be interesting to see how the two will perform against each other. The iPhone already has a faithful following and is stuck on AT&T, but the HTC Evo is on Sprint.

Agreed. Apple has a great base of faithful customers. It's amazing the turn around the company has seen. AT&T would probably be a no for me but I'm not with Sprint either. I think overall, I'm way too much of a geek to go Apple at this time.

The "problem" with the Evo is that 4G coverage is about as iffy as ATT's 3G coverage. Some markets are well covered and others are not. But the phone itself is pretty awesome. I wish there was a 3G GSM version.

i think verizon is getting an iphone in november.

i have the droid and love it. sure, it is a little hefty compared to the average iphone, but really...it's not THAT much heavier. at least when i talk on the phone i can get some curls in.

Well I'm a big HTC fan been buying only HTC's for a hot min. I love the evo screen and customizable abilities on the fone are mind blowing then u can voice surf the web by juss saying what u wish to look up. The iPhone to me is basically the same idea juss with some more features added on. I ill tho admit the new one is way better looking then past 3 but still to me hyped up. IPhone doesn't really offer a business aspect like htc. I remember doing classes on my HTC using it as a external drive. So to me that wins me over business, play, and student life ready. I'm HTC all the way.

But the evo has a hdmi hook up to and is way more customizable on the screens. With the iPhone I bet its juss the trade mark blk background with icons. But, I kinda did want one a while back till I saw the plan price and WOW lol my evo plan is like 70 something a month.

I love my Evo. I was going to wait until the end of July to buy it, but when I found out the release date was my birthday I decided to go ahead and get it.

I must've watched every clip on YouTube regarding the phone, including the reviews and the sample videos of the HD footage. Phonedog has been a great help, Noah in particular. I even became a member on androidforum so I could post questions.

One of the constant comments about the phone is its size and how it would most likely not fit in the front pocket. But it fits in the front pocket of a pair of raw jeans I own that shrunk after I mistakenly dried it in the dryer. And when I sit down with the phone in the pocket, it doesn't feel awkward. It's also not as heavy as I expected it to be.

Now I just need to put my music on the micro sd card and I can leave my iPod at home.

Same here it is big but that makes it more easier to use in my opinion but u know u can buy a 32 gig card for 20 bucks on eBay lol I might do that. The only complaint I have is that the phone did not come with shit lol no case or headset but its COO since the phone is the bomb.

Tons of great cases out there for it but you already snagged one I'm sure.

I wondered if the bigger screen would make it too wide to handle but from what I've seen I was wrong. Ran into a friend last night who had the EVO. She's not a big woman and seemed to have no problem using it one-handed. I'm trying hard to not have EVO-envy. icon_razz.gif
