    True for many, but not for me. I answered the pre-dononation screening honestly in 2001, right after 9/11, and was told I was being banned for life from donating blood in the US. Despite having been a regular donor for 3 decades, and despite being totally STD-free all my life to this day.

    This will mean a lot to me if the policy is changed, and I know to many other gay men, who want to participate fully in their communities, and not be discriminated against, ostracized and marginalized.

    I'm glad to see this, but I still can't donate because I lived in a European country for more than 6 months. Unfortunately that's one ban I doubt they'll get rid of any time soon.

    Not all of us European-born peeps have Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.
