I noticed a lot of criticism of Elton John for performing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding - but in many respects what both Limbaugh and he did were brilliant (not to mention Elton John made a few shekels but also reportedly had a good time) - at least for promoting each other and their positions. What is more bizarre has been some of the negative reactions from the press who have such things as Lexis Nexis or Factiva.

I don't agree entirely with Elton John but I both understand and respect his position but believe civil unions are the only things that government should grant to anyone.

“What is wrong with Proposition 8 is that they went for marriage. Marriage is going to put a lot of people off, the word marriage… I don’t want to be married. I’m very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership… You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.” – Elton John

All I will say about this is that Sir E is entitled to his opinion and he is not the only gay guy that feels this way. What he most likely fails to understand is that while he may be perfectly ok with being "Civilly Partnered", I am not and he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong in thinking that Civil Partnership rights= Marriage rights.

    Erik is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO right!
(Not to mention the whole "separate is not equal" thing.)

If the religious nuts are offended by the word "marriage", let them find a different word.
How about "Heavenly union"? Should fit right in with their mythical beliefs.

And now we have the word [civil] "marriage" for everyone.
