Princess Elizabeth was to become Queen on the Death of her father King George VI, in 1952.

    oh god, just die already.

I'm ashamed of Canada that we still have this jurassic and archaic figure represented in our government and on our money. Not to mention, Liz is the number one land owner on earth by far.

Do you really think what Australia needs is another old queen? Don't you already have Dame Edna?

Soon we will have a King. Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's outdated, or irrelevant, all the advance the world has made have not been for the good, is France or Russia any better off since they Murdered their Monarchy; NO!

Our Head of State allows us independence, and free will. Would we of had that if the Pope was our Head of State. You can put your money on No, and thats why I thank God for King Henry VIII.

    Long live the Queen.

Edna is only a self proclaimed Dame. From Mooney Ponds of all places, she also spends as much time in England as that other ex pat Kyle.
    Long live the Queen.

Look how much Obama has cost us in preparation for a holiday down here with his family, to meet Kangaroos, and koalas., and he rudely canceled twice, now he is the one that should be paying!

I don't think our Head of State has even come to Oz for a holiday,, it's always been for duties, and anyway she is our Head of State and she stays at Government House, her home here.

    Long live the Queen.

The Royal Family is only funded by the taxpayer to the extent of their official expenses, which would have to be paid anyway if Britain was a republic. It is actually cheaper than having a president. They have their own private income and have to pay taxes just like the rest of us. The majority of their income from their estate.

President or Queen? I know who I prefer.

lets not forget after the independence Charles II was able to enjoy, without the help of Parliament, or it's interference, dew to being independently wealthy. As a result the Monarchy was to hand over a lot of it's land in London and so, in replace for the Civil list, and anything left over went into infrastructure. So the Civil List is rent paid to the Queen.

But also in the last referendum, for Oz to become a republic, the people of Oz voted in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

I think you're referring to her mother. Sweaty Betty was only nine years old during the Blitz.

The whole family stayed in London during the Blitz.

The Kind and Queen stayed at Buckingham Place during the week, and it too was bombed. The two Princesses where hidden away in the dungeons of Windsor castle, but none the less none of them fleed to safety, when Others wanted them to go to Canada for safety. The Kind would never leave England, and thus his wife the Queen was not going to leave him, and the princess where not going to be away from them.

That's true. Some people consider Windsor part of London. Despite it being on the very outskirts and in a completely different county.icon_question.gif

The Queen Mother refused to leave London despite strong advice to the contry. They King & Queen, and likely the Princesses too at times, stayed at Buckingham Palce during the day, visiting the bomb sites etc. I've read else where that they all stayed a night at Windsor Castle.

    Sourced partly here:
    http://www.royal.gov.uk/HistoryoftheMonarchy/The%20House%20of%20Windsor%20from%201952/QueenElizabethTheQueenMother/ActivitiesasQueen.aspx

Only the great & very regal Queen Mary left London as her son wished, though she was very reluctant too do so.

I stand corrected, The king and Queen did spend their working day in London, at Buckingham Places, as it was business as usual, and they all did spend the nights at Windsor Castle.

But during the war, the Queen Mother Elizabeth was still Queen Elizabeth, as she was not yet a Dowager Queen; the Queen Mother. Queen Mary was the Dowager Queen at the time.

Well we tried putting bankers at the top of our nation and that failed.

Some things like culture, heritage, Pride, courage and values can not be bought. So its good for all our sakes that Canada, Oz and the Uk share these common values.

As when the shit hits the fan, weve always got one another and something common (that isnt money) to bring us together.

    So go figure.

If we are all alike, then wouldnt life be fucking dull lol
