So who all are watching this game today.
Gerrard made a really nice goal in first 5 minutes, but then Robert Green made the worst mistake a goalkeeper can. So all in all pretty interesting match so far.
If this game goes to tie or England looses, Green might just have a big dent in his soccer career forever and ever.

Clip of the goal that US got by a chance and Green's lousy hands. These are same clips with a bit different views.

Good thing about this was, England got more offensive once the score got tied. icon_smile.gif

TwoHands saidThe US looked like it belonged out there. Possession was nearly 50/50, and the game did not degenerate into kickball when England started applying pressure. Also, Tim Howard rocks.

Tim Howard was pretty impressive and that helped US a lot.

England has always needed a good goalie. The US on the other hand always have decent goalies.

I don't think Greene is a bad Goalie, but he looked more over confident when collecting the ball. The way he moved was "Oh I got it, its right into my hands".
Am a fan of England as well and I seriously hope that they show much better game this World Cup.

I actually thought that he has lost concentration, not mentally prepared to catch the ball. England has always underperformed in the past. Hope they'll have better luck this time.

Watched the game at an NYC pub - one of four cheering for England, the rest US. Was a fun time! Not a great game by either team, but definitely sets things up for exciting games ahead...

I'm definitely not a fan of the US team but they are actually not too bad. I love watching Donovan play in Everton. Another favourite Everton player of mine Cahill is playing for the Aussies today.

Sorry mate we have some great goalkeepers

    Gordon Banks
Considered by many to be the greatest goalkeeper of all time, Gordon Banks will forever be remembered for his save from Pele's header during the 1970 World Cup Finals. Yet those who saw Banks play knew he was capable of repeating such a feat on a cold December afternoon when all that was at stake was two points. He wasn't just great - he was consistently on top of his game and a Banks' mistake was very rare indeed.

    Peter Shilton
One of the great, driven players, Peter Shilton set out to become the best goalkeeper of all time. Legend has it that on being told he might not make the grade because he wasn't tall enough, Shilton went home and began a training regime that involved spending hours at a time hanging from the stairs in attempt to add inches to his frame. He wanted it that badly.

England's most capped player with 125 caps to his name, Shilton helped himself to a number of England goalkeeping records during his remarkable career - most matches, sixty-six clean sheets, captain fifteen times and second only in terms of age and length of career to Stanley Matthews.

Sorry I was a bit sloppy when I said that. I meant they don't have good goalies after Seaman.

If America embraced soccer it would definately be more popular around the world, there is just something about soccer that brings people together, it improves relations between mates, father and sons and countries in the world cups case.
