Helen Thomas comments and ramifications: Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine"

I'm starting this thread because the last one SouthBeach1500 started he deleted, just to start the same one. I don't like it when pages of discussions get thrown away because one idiot is "delete" happy with his threads when he loses the debate.

Anyway, I'm gonna kick it off.

I'm middle ground on this. Helen Thomas obviously has the right to say it (Freedom of speech) but she is limited with her job to say what she wants to say, as most people are. After all, if I say, "I think Muslims should get out of America," at work and get fired, I can't turn around crying, "but freedom of speech." No, that doesn't work. I'm still justly fired.

As for the Jews getting out of Palestine (and go back to Germany, Poland, etc), her only logical error is that there have been Jews there since before the European immigration. Other than that, if all the Jews returned to their national origin, most would face severe lack of freedom as they return to their Muslim countries (yes, many Jews in Israel came from Egypt, Morocco, Iran, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and even Palestine...yes...a Palestinian Jew that no longer lives in Palestine for painfully obvious reasons). It's not going to work. I've been there. There's a lot of pasty Jews that are obviously from Europe. Then there's also a SHIT load of Jews who look IDENTICAL to non-Jews/Muslims. There's a growing population of Asian Jews (because poor subservient South Asians who immigrate to Israel for a better life get along better with Jewish men than do spoiled rich loud-mouthed Jewish girls). And then there's black Jews. Yes, I said JIGGAS. Are they going to Germany and Poland too?!? Israel is the biggest melting pot I've ever seen in my life.

But you know what, it'd actually be nice to fantasize what it'd be like if the Jews had their own piece of land in Germany. It'd also be nice to fantasize Mexico covering Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado, Utah and California. But you can't just turn back decades of history just because you're like "oh shit the Britains fucked everything up by throwing a bunch of Jews in the middle of Muslim land." If we take the Jews out of Israel we might as well take the white people out of South Africa, and definitely out of Hawaii.

There is no peace solution. There really isn't. It boils down to either war, or some miracle in the Middle East has to happen like a leading Muslim country reforming (hopefully Iran again). Israel will have to reform a bit too.

    YOU'RE FULL OF

    common sense. I like you.

And, Helen Thomas went from being someone whom I greatly admired for many years, to a rabidly anti-semitic cranky old bitch, over night.

Israel is the spawn of European racism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Europeans carved up the Ottoman Empire with no regard for the people who lived there. And Isreal is one of those countries. And the Palestinians have been fighting for justice ever since.

Isreal never should have been allowed to be created as a Jewish state.

P.S. And just because Palestinians sold property to Jewish immigrants doesn't mean they were giving up their rights to their country. Just like an American selling property to a foreigner doesn't give that foreigner the right to declare that property independent of the US.

Re Helen Thomas, many Jewish Holocaust survivors who did try to return to their homes in Europe after WWII were MURDERED by the Europeans who'd stolen their homes and businesses. A reporter of her stature should have known that, and that she could have known that makes her comments even more deplorable.

Caslon14000 saidIsrael is the spawn of European racism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries...And just because Palestinians sold property to Jewish immigrants doesn't mean they were giving up their rights to their country. You're right about European racism's role in the "creation" of the State of Israel but wrong in implying that Zionist land purchases were also significant - the POSTwar atrocities in Europe which moved the U.S. president proved a greater catalyst. In previous threads when it was posted that early Zionists paid more than fair market value for barren land in Israel proper to largely foreign Muslim property owners it was to counter charges that Jews stole land from "indigenous Palestinians," not to rationalize Israel's existence. If buying property entitled one to nationalize, then the U.N. would have declared New York the Jewish homeland then, and who knows whose homeland now. As for other "stolen" properties, the occupied territories were won from aggressors in war, settled on to establish a presence for the purpose of maintaining them as defensive borders and largely returned in exchange for promised peace, resulting in uncondemned rocket fire into Israel prompting unfortunate blockades which are, ironically, most maligned by a hopefully evolved Europe.

As a humanitarian, please share with us your concerns about other peoples displaced by both the Europeans and the Ottomans.

Yeah but if a Mexican sells their property to an American in Southern California then the United States takes over Mexico after a war, then it's not their land anymore.

Oh and what are the other countries that these Muslims are so savagely fighting over? I don't see any other disputes that the Europeans carved up in the Middle East nearly to this magnitude. The only upsetting thing is Israel took land away after it was invaded by Muslim countries. It doesn't HAVE to give back any land. In fact, it already gave back chunks of it.

Keep encouraging Israel. The world is getting sick of them. They are going to find themselves stuck between a rock and the Mediterranean Sea.

What changed overnight was your opinion of her.

Regardless of your blatant hatred of Jews, be realistic.
In the first place, being hated is nothing new to Jews. But, your anger is misplaced. The Jews merely accepted an offer of land by the United Nations. The Palestinians received the same offer, but they declined. And, they've been whining and terrorizing the Israelis, ever since.

The United States of America will continue to support Israel with money and anything else they need for their defense against their anti-semitic neighbors. And, that is a life time commitment.

That Israel has survived for more than 60 years, against overwhelming odds, is a testament to their resilience.

And, any problems that the Palestinians have, are of their own making, from refusing an offer of land for their own state, to sending suicide bombers into Israel, to firing rockets into Israel, to kidnapping Israeli soldiers, to electing a bunch of terrorists to run their government.

Just curious...in the thread asking whether the Palestinian Authority should receive more aid you posted the below more current table showing that IRAQ received the most U.S. foreign aid. Why the switch?

This is a nonsensical discussion. With 30 countries there are 30 different reasons for aid.

The notion of aid in an exchange for UN votes is morally revolting.

While I think the US's aid to Israel is justifiable on a moral basis, there is no doubt that is precludes the US from adopting the role of "honest broker" in the conflict.

I think that no aid should beyond question. If there are no circumstances in which we might withdraw aid from a country, we surrender the positive influence we might have on that country.

yes but DC is so easy to oblige to AIPAC we receive more than most US local governments.. and if they are so quick and eager to do so, then we probably deserve that US tax money..

I'm taking this quote out of context because despite the context it's particularly subject to misinterpretation.

Is Israel's vote really that important to the U.S.? Also, it's easy to jump to the conclusion that Israel is exchanging votes for aid based on the charts but it stands to reason that all the other countries receiving aid would vote differently since they're more dissimilar to the U.S. Even if the chart implications were true, this type of arrangement would hardly be limited to Israel and the U.S.; global politics-as-usual are often morally revolting. What would Helen Thomas think?
