I dont care for it. It is annoying to have the music suddenly come on. And it doesnt add enough to a page to offset the annoyance. And I dont know anyway to disable it, except to mute my speakers.

I can't stand those embedded a playlist thingies. Fortunately, there's a cure: Firefox with Adblock Plus. Every time I encounter unwanted embedded music, I adblock the website that's hosting it.

    I completely disagree.

Music is a huge part of my life. I feel that if you want to see a profile about me and are interested in learning something about me, then the music is a huge part of that.

My cure for you're dislike: Don't upload music. I don't agree with the need to have private pictures, I don't complain about it, I just don't have any.

I agree with danielryan. I believe that music is a huge expression of one's self. The only pet peeve I have with people and music on their profile is when they put some played out top 40 song. I don't find these songs to be particularly expressive or telling of one's personality because they are so mainstream.

What we specifically object to here is the a aspect of music on a profile. There would be no issue if the embedded music player would only play music if the play button were clicked on. You mention private pictures, but private pictures aren't displayed, by default, on the main page. Clicking on a profile and hearing unwanted a music is like clicking on a profile and seeing unwanted private pictures.

Does RJ even have aed music? I don't think I've ever come across one. I thought you had to click to get onto a separate page?

RJ doesn't provide it, but RJ does allow people to embed whatever they like in profiles. Sites like playlist.com provide such embedded content.

Yes, it is the automatic playing of the music that I object to. And I have no way of knowing which pages are gonna blare at me until I get there.
