You just like the look and have hopes of being one someday?

At age 48, my hopes are fading, though.

Am I still welcome here? icon_rolleyes.gif

    hopes fading?
    nah.
you can totally change , unless you have some medical condition that would prevent any form of fitness training .
as for being a jock, it's kind of an obsolete term.
obviously the creator(s) of this site had some mental image of what a "real jock" is but i have this image of college bullies in the '70s who played football and went gay bashing on saturday nights.

I really couldn't give a crap if others think I'm a jock or not, I do what i like and i like what i do and i leave it at that, someone wants to slap jock on it i couldn't give a hoot.. Same with the whole masculine/feminine bullshit, I am who I am, I like who i am, someone wants to slap one of those labels on me, go right ahead, again can't be arced making any thing of it besides not giving a shit.

Live your life for you, not some label!

Yeah dude... who cares? I've always viewed this as being for jocks AND aspiring jocks.

    Good luck, and welcome.

If ONLY jocks were allowed here, I woulda been kicked off in my first 2 years...didn't start getting back into shape until late last year. I was still a fattie up until then.

a jock really has nothing to do with what kind of shape you're in. charles barkley is jock but could be rolled down a hill on his side

semantics aside, all are welcome (for the most part)

As someone suggested, unless you have a medical problem precluding it, get on a regular exercise program and make it a priority. Get whatever motivation you need. If you can afford a trainer, that is the best option, otherwise go to a bookstore and find a fitness book you can relate to.

Again, if you are medically ok, don't hide behind your age. It's is a limitation only if you let it become one. If you hang around people who act old, are couch potatoes, smokers, etc., that will hold you back.

I've met guys in their 30s who acted like old men. On the other hand, some older folks have the sparkle and energy of someone much younger. So if you think 48 may be too old, change your attitude and get going.

It's never too late, it may take longer and more dedication but you'll be better for the effort.

I'm not a serious jock or anything. I never played any sports and I just started weight training. If you still have hopes of being a jock, thats all that matter. After all "men live in hope and die in despair."
