Been skinny all my life, not rail thin, but you know I have no problem keeping it without effort. Yeah, I don't like it much. I would love to be able to gain weight and build muscles instead being more ripped muscles. I know this sounds like a problem most guys don't want to think about, but it's hard to get big when this 'ideal' has much chained to being so small. Small, lol. SO, any advice for gaining weight would be appreciated=) Hope to hear from you guys;-)

Look up ectomorph and research it.

Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate and then figure out how many calories you need to consume to achieve your goals.

Here, I'll even help you get started, http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

    Good luck!

Wrong, I'll chime in on this one. When I was in my 20's and 30's, I could double my meal intake and workout, or be sedate, and my body burned it right off. High metabolism people have a tremendously hard time gaining weight. It wasn't until my metabolism slowed down in my forties that I gained. I went from 149 to 167.

is that frozen yogurt to help numb your throat???

    just wondering..

I gained 30lbs this year. I changed my weight lifting regimen to focus on one body part and i'd increase my weight each time i lifted. I also had one scoop of protein every morning and two scoops after every work out. my metabolism never really slowed down. Over winter break i didn't really work out or take proten and i lost 10 lbs. gained it back. once i started lifting again. Now i've stopped using protein and i'm staying at the 185 range when i was at the 190 range. Originally i was at 155-160.... hope that helps

Bacon's a given to even get my attention. Carry bacon at all times. Delicious, delicious bacon.

Exactly! The guys who keep saying EAT EAT EAT don't know what ectomorphs like us are dealing with.

I have seriously been pigging out for six months trying to move the scale. Plus creatine, plus amino acids, plus protein drinks up the wazoo! The needle on my scale has not budged one single pound.

Gaining weight with a fast metabolism is a matter of consuming more calories than you burn. And that's a holy royal fuckton of calories. Your metabolism is biochemistry, not a magical hole in your stomach.

I'm 6'1" and 125 lbs, so you can imagine how fast my metabolism is. After three months I've gained the slightest amount of weight. I exercise every day, alternating between upper and lower body (zero cardio). I fail at this a lot but I try to eat whenever I'm hungry (and there are some budget concerns there). Part of the difficulty, I think, is you hit a natural baseline for where your body's weight tends to be. Growing past that is a bitch.

    I'll second this.

I'm slim also and while I'm toning up more you have to give it some time as it will take a while to get your desired body type.

Strategically used, the question to ask is how will that get ME.
Alcoholic bacon party? Collective hellz yeah in order?

The key to weight gain is a surplus of calories... in your case, a massive surplus is required. Lift heavy and eat. It's that simple icon_smile.gif

    I don't think so.

The more I eat, the more my metabolism speeds up. It gets to the point where eating more = losing weight.

I'm slim too and can't gain a single pound and I eat like a horse, but I know it's a cliche but there are guys who will like u how u are, I mean, I've been with muscular guys, really muscular guys, icon_razz.gif who liked me and begged me not to work out cuz they liked me slim and didn't want me to bulk up, one of em said to me -I should be the one working out to protect u, not the other way around awwwww LOL
