How often should you change a band-aid when you are an active person?

I have a cut on my back and just started to use Neosporin and a band-aid on it. I want to continue to workout and still stay sanitary. How often should I be changing the band-aid? I think daily would be logical but I know that wounds take time to heal and band-aids help do that. Also, should I remove a band-aid before or after I shower at the gym?

I'm sorry if these sound like stupid questions but I have not had to use a band-aid on my back before so this is new to me. My back is prone to sweating when working out so I want to do my best to prevent infection. Thanks for any feedback!

As often as necessary to keep the wound clean, to allow the wound to heal, and to avoid infection.

Funny that you should post this now, because an hour ago I cut my toe on an escalator (what a klutz!) and am wondering the same kinds of things. I normally don't worry about wounds, but feet can get kinda dirty...and my running shoes are probably not the most pristine things in the world.

Is it ok to workout with the band-aid still on? I know I sweat and it may get trapped within the band-aid. I will definitely take it off to shower. I mostly wear the band-aid when out and about so that it doesn't get irritated. I just hope the sweating won't get it infected. Hopefully shower promptly after will prevent that.

i would definitely work out with the band-aid on... you don't want to risk bleeding on or contaminating the equipment... and always use the disinfectant to be safe
