Coming to Longmont, Colorado, March 18–22. Planning lots of group-fitness classes at the local Gold's Gym.
An unabashed science, sci-fi, and grammar nerd, I'm also into Les Mills group-fitness programs, specifically RPM (a structured format of group cycling), BodyCombat (kickboxing), and BodyPump (weight training). I also do 5-mile runs during the week, and for my commute on a typical weekday I either walk 4 miles round trip (DC's a walkable city, unlike some places I lived in my native Texas) or bike in. I always pick stairs over elevator (to the annoyance of tourists, I walk all the way up the escalator, too).
I'd like to try some weight training outside the class setting, but as an introvert (see "Caring for Your Introvert"
), I find the idea intimidating.
To avoid processed foods and their high sodium content, I gave up meat in 2010. I try to avoid chemical additives and focus on eating fresh, nutrient-dense foods. And I'm a believer in the biochemistry of vitamin D. I want to live to see the Singularity. I'm also signed up for cryopreservation (a 10−6
% chance of coming back is better than the guaranteed zero percent if I do nothing).
I edit science journals and textbooks. Working in publishing, I like Macs.
