Hey so the head trainer at my gym told me about this site , and it has tonnes of awesome stuff .
Im a music major at UfT , and weightlifting is my relaxing listen to all the music that i need to learn time.
Ultimately my goal in life is to be a professional musician , playing in a concert orchestra ( preferably a studio recording orchestra ) or ballet or opera . Im a huge advocate for a healthy lifestyle , and I think its super important for musicians to incorporate it into their lifestyle , not necessarily with heavy weightlifting like me , but Yoga and a cardio class or swimming , everything helps with helping to prevent music related injuries and lowering stress levels ( which every musician deals with lol ).
When it comes to my music and my fitness , having been playing my horn for almost 12 yrs and lifting since high school , ive learned to apply aspects from both to each other. Ive especially benefited by treating my practice sessions ( 3hrs / day at least ) like a work out , doing my technique in reps and focusing on my posture and never sacrificing anything to reach that high note lol .
Fitness wise my goals are first to get a much stronger lower body , and really have a strong lower back ( thats where you breathe from for wind players ) and gaining about 5 - 8 lbs of lean muscle. This part is always the most fun ... but not really , because I find that what i gain in muscle in loose in a bit of fat ... so ive been monitoring my weight twice a week to in about another 2 months have enough numbers to see how things have been progressing .
