A few weeks ago, we profiled
Jason Villalobos, an inspiring, young, HIV-positive man who had gone from illness and despair to preparing for his third AIDS/LifeCycle. Fondly known as "the ride," this is the annual bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that draws thousands of participants and earned 10 million dollars this year alone to benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation
and the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center
. Jason's story resonated with so many RealJock members, and got such a positive response, that we asked him to stay in touch with us from the road, and share some of his experience with us in words and pictures.
In the following slide show, you'll get a feel for the experience of the ride through Jason's eyes and words, supplemented with photos courtesy of AIDS/LifeCycle 9. See the amazing people and beautiful places, learn about the fun and camaraderie, and, most importantly, make the decision to ride next year yourself. Early registration is already open
. Make the historic tenth ride your own.
Let's start with the above photo of Jason on day one of the ride, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, getting ready to join roughly 1,900 riders on the road. Here we go....
