Gay Games wrestling clinic: On all fours

Ross C. can’t seem to stop smiling. Even when he’s on the mat, fighting to keep his opponent off his back, the San Franciscan’s pearly whites just keep shining through.
Ross C. has only been wrestling for eight months with San Francisco’s Golden Gate team, but he’s obviously a scrappy and fierce competitor who describes himself accurately as "fast and strong." We watched him wiggle and kick his way out of many tough holds as he practiced with some of the best and brightest of the competition.
He’ll be competing on Monday in the 149.5-lb. weight class, his first Gay Games competition. Ross C. isn’t necessarily looking to win. With two broken ribs hobbling his performance, he’s mostly looking to keep from breaking anything else.
"I’m hoping not to reinjure myself," he told RealJock. "But it’s not going to happen. I broke two ribs, so I’m restricted to a few moves. But I won’t be able to stop myself from doing my other moves."
After wrestling ends on Monday, Ross C. plans to watch some other sports and hit some of the Gay Games parties with his teammates. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll run into him and that famous smile again.
