World OutGames: Beach Volleyball

We managed to convince Carlos Anton to spare us a few moments before heading off for a nap, to answer a few questions about his experiences on Montreal's sand courts.
How do you feel about how you did today?
We finished 5-3 and so we think we finished right in the middle of our pool, so pretty good considering everything. They will re-seed everybody, and tomorrow we will play in another pool.
What preparation did you do to get ready for this?
We played at the beach at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto quite a bit to prepare for the competition, so we've been together quite a bit. Most of us have played [court] volleyball for quite some time, so we coached ourselves into preparation.
What's been the highlight for you so far?
This is my first international games. It was overwhelming being at Opening Ceremonies, coming out of the tunnel and seeing how many people were in the stadium, and how big the stage was.
What are you most excited about, being here for the OutGames?
Of course competition is great, but I just want to see how the city is with so many gay athletes in the city, feel the ambience. It's incredible.
