Meet Hiep Ly, team captain for the California Underdogs. After the match, we managed to steal a few moments of Hiep's time to ask him about his team and playing at the OutGames in Montreal.
How long have you been training together as a team?
We haven't trained together at all! Each of us ended up working on our own games. We know each other from the past, from playing against each other, so we know each other's habits. We came here and we gelled.
And you did, you had great chemistry on the court.
We talk a lot. That is so important in this game.
Is this your first international games?
This is my first games. We chose the OutGames over the Gay Games because we wanted to go to Montreal. We heard great things about the city and that they are very nice here. The weather is so nice! We are very happy with our decision.
What are you most excited about for this week?
Just being here! Playing with my friends, meeting so many people from so many different countries. This is very exciting. It's neat to see different cultures, how they talk, how they behave and stuff like that. And everyone is so nice.
