Three Pools, 16 Practices, and One Big City, Oh My
With such a large team of swimmers and a large city of mostly non-drivers, organizing can be challenging. Hence the nicely done TNYA web site with handy-dandy workout schedules and updates (and, geeks take note, even an RSS feed of TNYA news updates), and multiple pools to swim at.
"New York is an interesting dynamic, because we're such a concentrated city, and we have such a huge team," says Mackenroth. "[So] we rent pool space. We swim at John Jay College, which is on 59th and 10th, and then we swim at City College, which is up in Harlem on 137th. And then we have a third pool that we rent on the East Side on 24th and Lexington."

Finally took another look at this article and remembered to say, as a dedicated TNYA teammate, that some of us fall into the "middle ground" in a way; we are not the fasted or the youngest guys on the team, but we still do at least some competitions to motivate us to stay fit, do our best, and develop our social networks on the team and with other competing teams. In meets, you really compete against your self, so while you may not be a winner, you can never really be a loser. Go TNYA!
