Greetings! I'm a second year grad student going to Oregon State. Studying to get my PhD in organic chemistry. I've wanted to be a chemist since I was a kid, and I am making my dream a reality. I love both research and teaching, so ultimately I want to be a professor. I am a science nerd in the true sense of the word, and always will be. I'm the guy who reads the ingredients on food labels, and proceed to tell my friends about what each chemicals does, hehe.
I work in the lab around 55h hours a week (give or take a few) so I have given up the gym mostly. Tried to keep it up for a while, but it resulted in rapid burnout. I try to go now and then if I have a massive energy buildup. I bike every day so I am still active and in shape. I gotta stay prepared for when Humans Vs. Zombies starts up on campus this fall, muwahaha!
I'm a very cerebral person, and my mind is always going. I'm both a logical, and emotional guy; both stand out at the same time. I may be a scientific individual, but I see the failings of a purely rational mind. The feeling side of us is what gives richness to the world. People are fascinating to me, and I seek to understand the inner world of those around me. I'm a friendly, social individual. That doesn't hide the fact though that I am an odd one, drawn to odd things. I wouldn't change a thing though. Normality is dull. I'm confidant in myself, and I face my fears when I must. I am not one to let a weakness define me, or take me down.
I think that's good enough for a general idea about me. For the most part I just use RJ to kill time by reading the forums, and tossing in the occasional post. Of course, browsing the eye candy here is quite nice too ;).
Oh, and just cause I love maps and can waste endless hours looking around google earth:
