hey guys, I know it's the internet so I understand I can't reasonably expect others to observe common courtesies or decorum but please don't just unlock your private pics or send me a blank email attaching pictures you wouldn't show your mother.... at least send an initial "hi" email. Thanks. :-)
UPDATE: FINALLY FINISHED Culinary School! I'm now working at a start-up kitchen where we prep food for (primarily) crossfit athletes--we're paleo done deliciously! I also have my own privates clients! Now begins the work toward owning my own place...
I'm a pretty quiet, low key guy. Love doing active/outdoors stuff like crossfit, back packing/camping, snorkeling/skin diving (I'd like to get certified to SCUBA), and taking my dog with me as many places as I can. I like doing indoor stuff too: I could click around on wikipedia for hours, love video games, and watching movies. I'm a bit of an oenophile and would like to try my hand at being a sommelier someday (or perhaps own a wine related business.)
A good cup of coffee in the morning makes me a happy camper, toss in some eggs and I'm set for the day.
Here are a few things I really enjoyed reading. They're the kind of things I think every guy should be taught by a man he respects as he's growing up:
"Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth--more than ruin, more even than death. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible; thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habits ... Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. ... Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."
- Bertrand Russell
"Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist" --Emerson
Invictus by Henley
If by Kipling
And finally, Nietzsche's concept of Amor Fati (Love Your Fate). The idea, as summarized by my own limited understanding of it is: Whether everything has a purpose or not, it happens and we cannot dwell on it. It doesn't mean that you can't try to change your lot in life, it doesn't mean you should become some fatalistic bastard. It just means you take things as they come, and no matter what happens, be strong enough to find your own purpose in it.
