I've never been a jock.
In 2009 I had gotten to the point where I was closing in on 350lbs and was well over 40% body fat. I smoked, had sleep apnea and depression. I couldn't see a path out. It seemed impossible.
On New Year's Eve that year, there was a sudden moment of clarity about the way forward. Every month or so, a small change was made, being accountable to the scale every morning, getting more sleep and getting it at regular times, eating fruits and vegetables every time I ate anything, lots of protein, strength training, quit smoking. The whole bit was done litte-by-little
By the end of 2010, lost 80lbs. to 260 lbs, by the end of 2011, lost 50 lbs. to 210 lbs. and by mid 2012, lost another 15 lbs. to 195 lbs. There were some personal difficulties at that time and some drifting and loss of focus, but everything is back on track now.
