Phillies go to bat vs. homophobes

The Philadelphia Phillies prohibited the display of anti-gay messages at their fourth annual Gay Community Night, amid protests from Repent America (RA), who accuse the Phillies of advancing the homosexual agenda.

"The Philadelphia Phillies have once again rolled out the red carpet to those who celebrate sexually deviant behavior by hosting 'Gay Community Night' at the ballpark," Repent America director Michael Marcavage said in a statement.

RA distributed anti-gay, religious literature and preached to fans entering the game. RA had been allowed to display their "Homosexuality is a sin, Christ can set you free banner" last year, but were ejected because of the banner in 2003 and 2004.

After last year, the Phillies changed their banner policy, preventing RA from displaying their banner.
