Funkapottomous saidah, southbeach.
I went two or three times as young 18 year old man, attempting to find the gay scene. I hated it. The club was great, but it was the people who you find there. Empty shells of people they were before they got sucked into "gay culture" (or what they thought it was)
Have yet to make my way down to Ripcord, but would go in a heartbeat.
Ripcord is a lot of fun. I stop by there every time I'm in Houston. I've never gone when there were a lot of hot men in gear or anything, but from time to time I've seen guys wearing a leather belt.
It's a typical leather bar atmosphere. You'll probably smell poppers when walking through the bar, and there's usually a little play going on at the back patio. If not, start some, and others will join.
Is Mining Company still open? Haven't been in several years, but always enjoyed it. It's right across the street from JR's / Southbeach. Usually had some hot beefy guys there.
Southbeach was a lot of fun when I was exiting my circuit boy days. The place seemed pretty drug-fueled, and the sound system was AMAZING! If you're into "chemical friendly" music, or can tolerate it long enough to hang out for about an hour or two, I'd recommend going just to check out the sound system, light show, and liquid nitrogen that cools everyone off, and makes it to where you can't see 2 feet in front of you, making the entire dance floor one big game of grab-ass for a minute or two. If you're looking to dance, this is the place to go. If you're looking to talk to anyone with what resembles a soul, you may want to look somewhere else. There were no real people there; simply meth containers.
