What about birthdays?

My birthday has got me thinking. As much as I want to downplay it and treat it like just another day, I can't help but feel some anticipation, apprehension and contemplation. I'm a year older now, what have I learned, how have I grown, am I where I want to be in life, what changes should I be making for a better year, where did the time go, what's the meaning of life, what's the name of that guy that I was interested in once and maybe should not have just let him go etc....

I'm interested to hear what y'all RJers think about birthdays. What's your attitude toward it? What do you usually think about and how do you usually feel around the period of your birthdays? How do you usually spend it and how would you spend it if you really could do anything you want? Do you try to make your birthday a nice day, a happy day, a perfect day? Do you expect anything to happen on your birthday?

Also, just wishing everyone a happy birthday whether it's past, coming up, or not any time near. Thanks for sharing and reading.
