Some of the signs he used weren't correct...

    BUT...

I can understand it is the thought that counts and if I had a bf that did that for me, id get down on my knee and propose to him right there. God damn thats the cutest fucking thing ever.

I'm glad you're the first to say what I was thinking icon_smile.gif He was signing nearly word-for-word (which is not how deaf people sign) and he wasn't using the correct syntax and facial expressions. Sorry to interrupt the swooning... The guy is cute, the music is peppy, but the act isn't cute. The reality is that deaf homosexuals are severely limited in dating partners. I think it's a little bit patronizing to praise the guy who made an effort to communicate with his deaf boyfriend... something that he should have been doing all along. If he was really serioius he'd have learned how to sign properly. I probably seem like a killjoy, but I'm just not in the habit of praising people for things they should already be doing.

Well i didnt want to say it like that and get bombarded by everyone else who has no damn idea what the deaf culture/world is like but yes, that is exactly correct. I have a hard time believing his bf is deaf though. If he had no idea how to sign a simple love letter, how the fuck would he be able to communicate with him on a daily basis? Maybe his bf is just fluent in ASL (like myself) or is an interpreter or something and he was using as a cute gesture, but i really dont think he's dating a deaf guy. If my boyfriend did that for me though, seriously, id melt. It shows he tried to make an effort to be interested in something im interested in too.

You aren't being entirely fair on that statement, he is partially right in what he said. The deaf community is a small one already, then adding being gay on top of that is even smaller. Why should this guy be getting so much appraisal for attempting to communicate with his boyfriend using the only language he can fully understand? But i said it before, i really dont think his bf is deaf.

Who cares? It was a cute video with a sweet message...and the messenger was adorable. If his heart was in the right place, and the receiver of the message was able to understand it -- BRAVO!

Perhaps you have a point, but he has to start somewhere. Fluency doesn't happen over night in any language.

The only reason he could understand is because there were subtitles. If the subtitles were not there i would not have understood half of what he was saying...
