How to get the desire to work out..

    Ok, so here is the problem. I really want to work out and get somewhat buff. But I just cant ever seem to make myself get up and work out in the mornings, and going after work never happens.

    What tips do you have that gave you motivation to work out? I need help!!!

    Get a workout partner. Like a total meat head that will force you to go.

    mine's kinda vain but when i started working out i stuck all these pictures of great looking bodies on the wall and said to myself that i'd be one the wall soon. i wanted to get fit, healthy and to help with depression so i put things up to remind me of where i want to be. it worked though now if if i don't workout, it's easier to get back into the routine because i know the first hurdle is over. i do try and talk myself out of working out too but i catch myself doing it and call myself a lazy bastard and that usually snaps me out.

    there's always time for a workout, you just have to breakdown what you do at work and at home cut some things out. workout at home if the gyms too far, you can probably eat in the last 15mins of the hour lunch break you get and do a half hour workout...i workout at home because it's very cheap and i can do things straight afterwards like watch telly or cook.

    i guess the motivation depends on why you want to work out. get into the thought pattern that doing something is better than doing little or nothing.
    listening to music helps immensely as well.

    There's a whole list of ways to get yourself to workout...
    But you need to find out which one's fire you up inside
    ...if it's being buff>>> go for it
    getting healthy?
    better sex?
    fitting into a speedo?
    whatever it is find out what you really want in this life and go out and get it

    I read somewhere that it takes three weeks to form a routine. I think you're right--trying to work out after work is really hard because you're either mentally/physically exhausted or you end up staying later than planned at the office. So maybe one way to go is to plan on three weeks of hell--suck it up each morning for three weeks, and maybe reward yourself at the end of it by treating yourself to something you've really wanted. Do you have a best friend you can lean on keep you on track until you make your goal?

    For a bit, I hired a trainer to meet me at the gym in the mornings. And then I had a training partner for awhile who could only meet at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays. After a bit, it became a routine, and now I've been doing my morning workouts for over a decade. At a certain point, you just fee like shit when you don't work out.
