yep, but in some cases a person could have more than one disorder

Thats called NOS- not otherwise specified, when it cant be places in one of the definite disorders

Not in psychiatry though... soicopathic personality disorder (not psychopathology) has absolutely nothing to do with schizophrenia or borderline...

borderlines are overly emotional and unpredictably dramatic in an exaggerated fashion

schizophrenics are emotionally flat and socially withdrawn with possible delusions

sociopaths are unemotional, but charismatic and socially manipulative

The three have literally nothing in common!!!

isn't antisocial sometime coexist with borderline? (i.e. impulsive borderline which is very like an antisocial)

No, antisocial can be very calculated and cold also... impulsivity is not a critical trait, its just one of many

    WHAT???? read DSM-IV

    I'll repeat.

As expert as insanesanity seems to be on this subject, can you explain your statement?

Typical borderlines are overly emotional, etc. It comes in different forms, which is why it's rarely diagnosed, because it's difficult. In some cases, the subject is overwhelmed with feelings of compassion which lead to constructive relationship building, ultimately ending in the reverse. This causes people to assume they were being manipulative and ends in misdiagnosis.

Schizophrenia is a broad diagnosis that covers all sorts of behaviors stemming from the inability to differentiate fantasy from reality. Oftentimes it causes the 'emotional flatness" you're talking about but in some cases the symptoms reveal charismatic and socially manipulative people.

Sociopathy means nothing more than having flawed social capabilities, and only gets more specific when adopted by people who don't know what else to call it. The etymology alone provides the definition.

So yes, the three have nothing inherently in common, but occassional symptoms and loose definitions can cause an overlap, and often misdiagnosis, especially in criminology.

Also, antisocial personality disorder is included in sociopathy, but the two aren't necessarily the same thing

insanesanity6 saidIt's a bit difficult to find psychopaths that are actually successful at manipulation. There have been geniuses out there that have had a long spree of killings but those are a few in a dozen and the truly intellect. For Example: Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Dahmer, Hillside Strangler... These I would say in a twisted kind of way are the most attractive, but most psychos tend to be idiots. The infamy makes them seem bigger than what they are.

There are many more intelligent psycho's in this world than not so, it it just that one will never learn of them, naturally.

I didn't mean to come across pretentious, like I said the field is complex. I do not claim to be an expert, this just my understanding from what I've read an a lot of these individuals.

LOL! I pulled up the link, i hope you're not referring to the guy that looks doped up in the photo...I wouldn't quite say he's hot. I guess you'd have to define 'hot' I guess it differs for people but I would say the guy in the photo is not universally hot.

And how would you know? If they were successful at manipulating you, they would probably be so good that you'd never know it. After all, once someone knows they're being manipulated, they tend to become very difficult to further manipulate.

    Ya know what I mean?
