mike29401 saidFor that price I could get a couple dozen (at least) backpacks and rucksacks and duffel bags from a combination of L.L. Bean or military surplus which would be 100x more useful, plus I wouldn't have to surrender my balls.
Yeah, I just got a small OD green canvas shoulder bag from the HRC store while in P-town, a courier-dispatch style with a big flap. I wish I still had my US Army version, lots of officers used them in the field for light duties when a backpack was too much.
As for Prada, last month I decided to replace my inexpensive nylon hip wallet because it seemed to have begun messing with the magnetic strip on my cards. So I figured I'd have to try leather, which I normally avoid.
I went into Neiman Marcus in Fort Lauderdale, where the men's accessories clerk immediately started pulling attitude on me. When I asked for hip wallets, he sniffed at me: "Hip wallet? Oh, do you mean a man's billfold?"
Look, buddy, I'm buying it, and if I choose to call it a damn pocket portfolio you'll find me one, OK? So I'm already not in a good mood. Well, he showed me some Prada and Gucci in the style I like, but at $400 I didn't see that the quality was all that superior to something lesser.
So I went down to Macy's and found some perfectly serviceable leather wallets at a fraction of the Prada price, plus on a nearly half-off sale! Well thank you, snotty Neiman Marcus sales person. You just saved me a bundle.
