I lost my only living grandparent at a very young age. My ex's grandparents accepted me as their own. That was a great day.

One of the benefits of aging is realizing that so many things that a lot of younger people raise a stink about, just don't matter.
Congratulations on having a great grandmother.

Well good thing THIS isn't his Grand Ma. Lmao.

But seriously it's good to hear that about the letter. It kind of fills in a bit of that family gap.
A friend of mine's grandmother told him that she knew and didn't care. But the grand dad is another story.

This picture reminds me of a time volunteering experience at the ER, too bad I can't divulge it haha.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, haha I didn't think anyone was going to post on this when I got off last night. To some of the posters above, yeah My grandparents are like stereotypical middle class white couple of that time. I had heard that my grandfather probably wouldn't like it at one point and was told that they probably just shouldn't know in their lifetime and not to tell them about a year ago. I guess my grandma brought it up with my mom according to the letter haha. She is a nurse also and said she thinks personally that being gay is called a hormone imbalance, and that she called it really early on.. but said something like.. Me and your grandpa both love you very much, and it doesn't change anything. and then some stuff about how god loves everybody regardless of anything like that.

Progress saidI was always worried that my grandparents wouldn't approve of my being gay but I got a letter from grandma today saying that my mom told her over the summer, but that she knew since I was around 5 and that her and my grandpa still love me just the same. I teared up a little bit.. I have always shied away from extended family for that reason.

One of the best days ever

AWwww... that is the sweetest things I've ever heard today. That made me smile. icon_smile.gif Good for you icon_biggrin.gif

My Grandma was the first person in my family I told I'm gay and she has said the same thing since then: She loves me no matter what.

Even when the rest did not like it, Grandma stood by me.

I'm SO GLAD your Grandma is doing the same. icon_smile.gif

Grandmothers are wonderful. One of my grandmothers knew I was gay around age 5 also. I could say she knew long before I did.
