onaquest saidI liked Nemesis, too. But I think it was a sign that TNG movies needed to end. They need to do more with some of the other casts.

It just felt like they needed 1 more movie to tie everything up, like The Undiscovered Country. At the end, Data is on his way to returning to the series Data (yay for pre-movie Data... not counting First Contact cause he was awesome in that one), Riker and Troi are in their own ship, Crusher is gone. they needed one more movie icon_sad.gif

I actually liked the latest installment; Star Trek

No not just because of Chris Pine, but because it really gave people who were not big Star Trek series or movie enthusiasts a chance to enjoy the premise.

    Awesome flic!

Raised on Star Trek, I pretty much liked them all, though I'm not particularly fond of Janeway, finding the character a bit smug. I especially like the one where Shatner overacts. Though very handsome in his Trekkie days, I thought he was most brilliant later in life as Danny Crane.

I did not see the latest Star Trek with the newest generation characters but I'd watch if I noticed it on the TV.

Heliodromus saidMy favorite is Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. It's the funniest of all of them, and it's got a lot of cute moments. I especially love Dr. McCoy visiting the hospital to save Chekov.

Sure, the whale thing is a little bit silly, but it makes the nice point that human beings aren't the only intelligent life on the planet. And we would do better to pay more attention to the rest of the planet's inhabitants.

In terms of character development, plot, and acting - ST4: The Voyage Home is my fave.

In terms of eye candy - Zachary Quinto (Young Spock) in the most recent ST movie. Aside from that, the movie was fucking full of lens flare fail.

I know we didn't hit it off on the right foot in another thread, but I do agree with you. It was great because they were respectful to the original, but gave the franchise a new life by creating a new timeline - so anything that happens now is a new story and doesn't ruin the original.

It was the smartest reboot movie to date. I wish they would take this approach with all of the movies that "reboot" an old tv series. I am very nervous about 21 Jumpstreet coming out later this year because I loved that original series.

    Hard to pick just one.

Old Trek, Star Trek IV The Voyage Home

    Next Generation, Insurrection

And the latest Star Trek movie was awesome. I hope they got the entire cast back for the sequel.

I have to go with the most recent one, although I loved the 1st couple also. The newest one was a GREAT retelling of the story, I hope they keep the franchise going.

    Have to choose one?

First Contact and Nemesis; though Data dies in the end.

Star Trek IV was the least lame of them all. But overall they were disappointing and not as good as the original TV series.
