  Hey guys! I just saw Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas Special and the last song she sings is with her Mom, Patricia Carey. They are both spectacular! Especially Mariah. There are many "live" performances where Mariah is obviously lip-syncing, THIS is definitely NOT one of them. enjoy!

  Mariah was amazing last night - she rarely disappoints me though. While she's had some live vocal trouble the past few years, whatever she's doing to solve it is working. She's not quite the same as she used to be, but she sounded close last night.

  I also liked the movie (yeah, I know it was cheesy, but what MC fan could NOT like the movie?) and the album was not nearly as bad as people made it out to be - it has some excellent ballads on it.

  I read an article tonight on a music website that said she is the 'last relevant diva' in Pop Music. She has been around for 20 years in the music industry, that's longer than most musical acts of today. To be honest, with her success record, impression on the music industry, and her MASSIVE list of #1's and awards, I think she could record 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' or sing the phone book and still be looked at as ultra successful.
  
  I went to buy her new Christmas album today in two different stores and both were sold out. I had to order it online this afternoon.

  It looked like she started lip syncing towards the end of the song...she is known to do that. Her vocals are not like they use to be. She hit too many of those high notes in the beginning of her career and she is suffering for it now.

  I don't think anyone sane would accuse Mariah of not being able to sing...her song selections after her early stuff has been questionable--but in the end she won a younger fan base which has extended her career for sure. Thus never had to compete with Whitney Houston directly--she proofed this by releasing an LP the same day or week as Whitney once and her sales were still the same and Whitney did well too. Mariah if she wants will still be around for the next 20 year if she wants.
  
  I don't see a reason why she felt the need to out diva her own mother...her ego is amazing..that was not a true duet--Mariah sang over her own mother several times.

  Don't look at it as Mariah's ego took over, the actual song is done that way and it's their voices together that makes the chorus so great. I LOVE how their voices blend.
