Club Med?

My BF and I are trying to plan a vacation for March and we want to go someplace warm where we can be active. We're thinking about Club Med Columbus Isle in the Bahamas. We like the idea of all-inclusive resorts and there seem to be a lot of activities that you can participate in at Club Med. We mix well with straight people and prefer not to segregate ourselves at gay only resorts or on Atlantis type vacations (I know Atlantis periodically sponsors gay only events at various Club Med facilities). We're worried, however, that Club Med might just be a little too straight. Ideally, we prefer the company of both gay and straight people.

Do any of you have any experience with how welcoming Club Med is to gay couples during NON-Atlantis sponsored weeks?

Anyone have any experience at all visiting the Columbus Isle resort?

Any other suggestions for a warm and affordable (our budget for the two of us for the week is about $3,000) romantic vacation?

    Thanks for your help!

I was in Punta Cana (Club Med for all family) and in Turks and Caicos (adults only).
Never had any problem. Tolerance is high, nobody cares.
The quality is excellent for the price, and you get all sorts of activities and sports. Food is .
I highly recommend it, especially T & Caicos (no kids).
The beach is so white under the full moon.

The very name, Club Med either sounds like its for people in the pharmaceutical and hospital profession or for those needing medical attention. I guess they were going for a therapy approach or something. I would suggest one of the Aman resorts on Bali, off Lombok, or throughout SE Asia. Much more soulful and amazing. I am just the oposite about resorts, I can't stand them. But I stayed at Aman Jiwo outside Jogyjakarta and my mind was changed.

Hey. Thanks for the feedback. After a lot of back in fourth, we finally decided to go on a cruise and take a few friends with us. Will definitely plan some nice romantic dinners and excusions just the two of us, but also looking forward to traveling with some good buddies. And its hard to beat the price of a cruise, the quality of the food and surroundings, the beautiful tropical scenery, and the great onboard fitness facilities.
