    Oh i see, never mind >_<

    But you have good points.

    I dunno, for me, the things I like, I don't feel like I always need to apply them to myself. Since, I'm thinking of traits on OTHER people, not myself, since I'm not planning on dating myself. Like, if I like guys who like to play music, I don't ever need to play music myself. Or for me, videogames and sports. I don't ever expect a boyfriend to like videogames or like to play sports with me. Plus, there are thousands of couples where people are opposites. Besides, if a skinny guy dates a muscular guy or a fat guy dates a skinny guy or a fat guy dates a muscular guy, why does anyone care? Would other gays actually get mad if a slim guy like me is married to a football player? I can't think of anything wrong with that if true. Or a guy who dropped out of high school married to a guy who has a PhD?

    So, personally, I feel like it would be hurtful to only find people similar to me, since it doesn't exist. The majority of gays are super athletic, so already that's different haha, seeing as I'm just casual.

    Also, every skinny and average gay person likes jocks, so even if I do try to date another skinny guy, they only want muscle while I want variety of types...

    NiklasErik saidMy theory is that most guys generally like or look for someone similar to themselves because then it's more likely to work out, being for just sex or a bf.
    So since this really got me thinking (and I have too much time on my hands) I came up with some rubbery figures to try to work out your match potential icon_wink.gif
    And this is just for fun btw so please don't take it too seriously icon_smile.gif

    ================
    population breakdown
    ================
    5% skinny
    25% average-skinny
    5% athletic
    2% defined
    2% muscular
    1% body builder
    10% stocky
    35% average-fat
    15% fat

    ==============================
    % chance of one type liking the other:
    ==============================
    sk_as_at_df ms bb st af__ft
    90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10 sk
    80 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 as
    70 80 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 at
    60 70 80 90 80 70 60 50 40 df
    50 60 70 80 90 80 70 60 50 ms
    40 50 60 70 80 90 80 70 60 bb
    30 40 50 60 70 80 90 80 70 st
    20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 80 af
    10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 ft

    Your odds = %guys * (like ratio)
    so...

    Example1:
    average-skinny guy matching a muscular guy:
    2% * .60 = 1.2% odds

    Example 2:
    muscular guy matching an average-skinny guy:
    25% * .60 = 15% odds

    OMG!! how long did that took u?!! LOL well anyways i totally agree with ur point and dats exactly wat i was thinking...build guys often look for something similar to them b/c they think it'll work out(notice i said often and not always) and i mean can u blame them...they've worked their ass off to look as good as they do so why not ask for something similar...just my thoughtss guyss have a nice day icon_biggrin.gif

    KnuxNole saidWell, that's a good point...

    I don't need a muscular guy, but let's put it this way

    9 of 10 skinny guys love muscle dudes
    9 of 10 buff guys love muscle dudes
    9 of 10 chubby guys love muscle dudes

    So, you have all those guys who have muscle dudes as partners, so leaves the other types stranded...

    At least you're being more realistic. It's a good step forward.

    To the OP, whatever you decide, you have to understand that other guys are likely to share your attractions when it comes to guys. I guess what I'm trying to say is, you should be mentally prepared for the type of guys you like, "muscle guys", to not also be attracted to the "type" you want to stay in.

    KardioKing saidHmm, I just prefer guys that aren't lazy and take care of their bodies to some extent, doesn't mean they have to be jacked as shit.

    I prefer muscular body types, but if they're not it isn't a deal breaker... being skinny fat is though.

    I'll admit to being shallow to an extent, fuck it. icon_smile.gif

    You couldn't be much further from the truth, actually.

    Being attracted to a sexy male physique is not a sign of shallowness. A guy who is in shape is broadcasting a message that he lives in a way that keeps his body healthy. A guy who is muscular is also broadcasting that he has good testosterone levels and has the discipline of mind to work his body. These are good personality traits, especially the latter. A lean, muscular male physique looks good because it tells you about the person inside the package.

    You shouldn't feel ashamed to require of a partner what they initially found attractive about you in the first place.

    pre_mortem saidIllogical. If you gain mass fewer guys will be bigger than you. Wouldn't the chances of meeting a guy bigger than you who actually likes you become smaller rather than greater?

    Why not work on looks or charisma?

    Because, as can be seen from most responses to this thread, guys tend to prefer athletic or more muscular guys, especially if that means they themselves don't have to put in as much work into their bodies. That being said, gaining mass means the pool of guys who would date you increases at a comparable rate.

    thank you everyone else for input, i've found it very helpful. once i'm able to go back to work i'll probably be investing in weight gain of some sort. would still love to hear anyone else's input assuming it's not blind ranting about me .... doing w/e.... idk that guys a loon. please no arguments.

    I agree. Someone talking about your athletic abilities should not throw stones, but rather look in the mirror.
    Stereotypical late 40's (most likely) single man who, judging by his hot list, worships men who are exponentially more in shape than he could ever be...

    Karma's a bitch.

    Haha, this is so true

    And both of your hot lists reveal anything different about the guys you "worship" how?

    I can be attracted to all types.
    I usually just like a normal/toned body.
    But I don't expect a lot of muscle guys to be attracted to me, I mean they are working on their bodies because that's USUALLY what their expectations are on what a good looking guy should look like. If you don't like that muscle guys don't find you attractive... Know what you do? Gain muscle. Looooool. Quite simple actually.

    Skinny is much better than muscle. I only say that because I am myself. No offense, but most muscle men tend to try too hard to get guys or girls using their bodies alone. It is laughable and makes for great entertainment.

    lol, well I just hope someone out there likes someone who is naturally skinny, whatever body type that might be

    But, one general comment, everything I do, I would definitely not expect in a partner, since I wanna be realistic. Basically, my traits are only for me. I don't think about other people when I acquire these traits. In the case of muscle, I would never work out to think about other people. Same with staying skinny, I'm only staying slim because I'm thinking of myself. I don't stay slim to attract that type, I just stay slim because I feel like it, and most people say to think of yourself first, which I think is good. I can't name one reason why it's bad to stay slim, so I'm happy within myself. And hopefully others might share that one day. I show more respect to people who get muscular because of what they want instead of thinking of other people. I work hard in school, I don't expect my bf to have a professional/masters degree, let alone be a college graduate I watch my weight, and I don't mind if my bf is slightly heavy.

    Ahh, ok. I know that everyone is different and everyone has flaws and strengths. I don't expect any gay male to be perfectly 100% healthy and have perfect personalities and characters that are flawless, since your only setting yourself up for a world of hurt. When I find people to date, I look for common ground on some degree, but if there is some connection that's good. Like I mentioned before, I care about a face first, if the face is attractive, that's the grasp. If the body is of a greek god, but everything else sucks and the face isn't attractive, that's a no-no, since I don't want a relationship with abs.

    I love a lean tight toned slight muscle guy.
    Don't like them too big, nor just skinny. The defining thing is tone, not just skinny and soft. Got to have a little bit of peaked biceps and pecs, and abs from hell!!

    it's how nature works. You act and surround yourself with the types you like.
    I go to the gym for me, but it is always a type I like. There are guys I find attractive and guys I admire for what they have accomplished.

    No kidding.. That's some serious dedication to work that hard at something. Blows my mind. I can't focus all of my energy toward one thing (such as working out) so I feel kind of mediocre in a lot of areas. I wish I could accomplish what some guys have. Wow icon_exclaim.gif
