Red_Vespa said... Another Verizon exclusive is the new Palm Pre, which shows promise as a business smart phone, and that I'm considering myself....

The Palm Pre is a Sprint exclusive, not Verizon.

iPhone baby! I find myself singing its praises on a daily basis. I love all the apps that are available and the fact it's a veritable Swiss Army Knife phone. I would definitely get an iPhone 3G or 3Gs and not the original iPhone though.

I'm buying myself out of my AT&T contract after less than 6 months of constant dropped calls, a replaced handset, and going back to Verizon with a Blackberry.

Love the iPhone. When it works. But AT&T service is so horribly unreliable in my area and I don't have a landline. I literally have to step outside of my home to make a call. (that never happened with VZW)

Anyone wanna buy an extremely gently used iPhone 3G?

AT&T service is awful. Have a Blackberry now on Verizon. LOVE IT. If the I Phone ever does become available on Verizon, I will lose the Blackberry in a heartbeat!
    Cheers,

I've got a Blackberry 8900 and as much as I hate to admit it, iPhone has Blackberry beat in terms of the wow factor and user friendliness. I'm still sticking to my Blackberry though until another phone emerges that is able to match the might of the iPhone. Don't want to be a lemming and have the fastest selling phone on the market.

Not sufficient coverage with AT&T /iPhone here in Santa Fe NM area and lots of other locations around here. OK if you're in a city with lots of cell tower coverage, but the 3G coverage is too spotty most of the time to warrant having an iPhone only usable part-time. (Like CO Jock's situation)

So for now and quite a while probably, I'll stick with my Verizon Blackberry Storm for reliability, although I don't get to use the 86,000 "apps" the iPhone supports.... (nor would I if I had the iPhone! I'm lame that way. lol)

I have the storm...the speaker doesn't work well when talking, the screen changes are very slow, and I've had to replace it twice already.

I have a bunch of friends with iphones that are really happy with them and I will totally get one next time around.

MacWorld has an article about the new Droid, looks like Motorola posted specs in error before its release. Looks like a nice device. (From a total Mac/Apple/iPhone guy!)

I've been debating between the blackberry 9630 Tour or the iPhone... but the new HTC Hero with Sprint (as well as the other Google Android platform phones) look like the most promising buy. The Android app store already has over 10,000 programs available, and the reviewers are generally saying that the phones are more stable and more capable than the iPhone. I'm anticipating that a "generic" brand like Android will be much bigger than iPhone in the VERY near future...

I had a Curve (at&t) and am due for an upgrade. I soul searched and picked up an htc Tilt 2 yesterday (hold the tomatoes you crackers). After approximately 24 hours, my experience is the following:

    1. By far one of the nicest piece of equipment, most stunning display;
    2. COMPLETELY hobbled by what is the WORST pda operating system (Microsoft Windows Mobile); and,
    3. Persistent failure to tether; equals

an appallingly frustrating experience for one of the more expensive handsets in the market.

So (there was a reason I asked the crackers to hold the tomatoes), I am taking it back tomorrow to get a Bold. Yes, I am a Crackberry addict. Why?

    Two observations:

    1. In hindsight, within the first few hours, I realized why the Blackberry is so habit forming - it is the OS. Very thoughtfully developed, uncanny in its intuitive use of keys and keystroke features, and, most importantly, an OS designed for a PDA (and not a PC-conceived OS crammed into handheld!)

    2. Blackberry Desktop Manager is true, full featured middleware, as compared to the worthless piece of garbage known as ActiveSin...I mean Sync (which is sort of like having a body languate translator during sex).

I am a long time Wintel user. But death couldn't come fast enough to Windows Mobile.

That's my 58 cents. If you don't like the opinion, get over it!

    i have a BB Bold.
very convenient as i'm self employed , and very much on the road.
the camera sucks, but most of them do, mp3's sound like shit, but a BB isn't for entertainment right?
    .. WRONG.
i want it to do it all!

and i don't want an iPhone, i hate tactile keyboards.
    i like the real thing.

what i'd be reaaaaaaally curious to try is the new Palm .

I had an HTC Mogul which was the WORST PDA Cell Phone I have ever had. I dropped it down a flight of concrete stairs and it exploded when it hit the bottom (thank GOD). This phone was an eBay purchase to replace a Samsung Instinct which I hated equally because it was buggy and locked up all the time. The Mogul had the horrid Windows Mobile system on it and never worked right. Thus I am temporarily using my old flip phone.

My planned upgrade (for now) is to a Blackberry Tour. I have researched these phones on CNET and it seems as though the Tour is the highest rated one that Sprint carries.

That being said I do like the iPhone for the applications and the built in MP3 player, but everyone I know who has one hates AT&T's service. I know one guy who is actually an executive for AT&T here and who has a Verizon cell phone because he got sick of dropped calls and horrid service/reception.

I agree with Red Vespa - best phone really depends on what you want to do with it.

I have the Tour with Sprint - no problems whatsoever and you'll love it. I'm tempted to switch to T-Mobile and try out the new Bold2 when it's released next month tho.
