I am a huge anime aka japanese animation fan, and read a lot of manga as well. My fave series so far are -
NEON GENESIS EVANGELION - Shinji to me is the ultimate anti hero and tragic figure in anime, though a bit grating with his constant winging in the finale and in the END OF EVANGELION movie. I guess I favour this one above others because it, along with GHOST IN THE SHELL, was the first anime to truly amaze me with it's intricate plots, characters that were multi layered and backstabbing galore ! PLus the actual eva fights were amazing and nothing I had ever seen before. My only complaint was that the ending of the original series was quite bizarre, but End Of Eva was just plain
GHOST IN THE SHELL - My truly first adult anime. Loved the political intrigue and the main character of Kusaragi was a fine strong character who you always kept wondering about. INNOCENCE was amazing to see but the plot was not as good as it could have been, plus I missed the Major. STAND ALONE COMPLEX aka the tv series was interesting too.
