doing some research about the art/music/coffee shop scene in Sydney. From what I gather there is not a localized tech-savvy hipster, artist ghetto in Sydney like there is in other major cities.

Can anyone share some local insight for me about the scene? where are there pockets of activity? Are there any local artists/musicians to look for? any other info is greatly appreciated!

    here are some more specifics....

    hip neighborhoods?

I am looking at cultural and artistic categories such as:

    1. Music

    2. Art – all types – sculpting, culinary, etc…

    3. Dance

    4. Cultural Events or mainstays

    5. Social Media

    6. Digital Media - websites, blogs etc that are really popular in that area

    7. Anything else that is a part of the artistic, cultural, social movements?

If either of you have any insights on hot local bands, great artists, big thinkers, or cultural icons, would you mind passing those idea along? I am researching some publications and websites, but it can be hard to get a good feel for what people are really gravitating towards when I’m only using the internet to make the determinations.

Oxford street is the gay hub for Sydney.

I went last year soon after Mardi Gras. Since you're a DJ, I thought you might like to know: There is a group called Muscles and they had a catchy hit called "Ice Cream" Check it out.

When are you going? Remember that summer there is DEC - MAR
