Need to put on Weight!!!

    Hi Guys!!

    need help here,

    i weigh 51Kg and about 5'8" which makes me Under Weight as my ideal is about 68Kg.... therefore i need to put on weight!

    I don't do any exercise apart from walking about 40mins a day walking to/from bus from home and work and i eat 3 times a day which is toast in mornings a meal for lunch and a meal for dinner in the eves.... i don't know why i'm skinny yet as i'm seeing my doctor to find the reason. So can anyone give me any tips on what i should do to gain some weight??

    Shane, plese post what you eat exactly. Example:



    Just from what you're saying, I can tell you're not eating enough if you're skinny and only eating 3 times a day. You should try eating every 3 hours. But what you eat is also important. Each meal should include a decent amount of lean protein such as chicken breast, a healthy fat such nuts, oils, avacado, etc and a complex carb source such as brown rice, whole grain bread, oatmeal, etc. Veggies is also important.

    You need to work out your daily calorie needs,then increase your consumption by two hundred or so.Then you`ll gain weight!Add in some cardio/weight training to develop fitness,toning and muscle,not just flab.Best wishes.Hugs,John.

    well what i eat veries from day to day as i have a lunch meal at my work's resturant which can usualy be chicken, mince beef, spuds, some veg, pasta bakes, fish, gamon, it's never the same... and for an eve meal it's usualy chicken with some chips,or there's pasta, curry or maybe even spag bol.... i am now starting to eat more in a day with choc bars crisps etc then see if that puts any weight on if not then my doc is going to reffer me to a specialist....

    Also I do want to get more toned and muscular but it's finding the time and money to go to the gym or get anything for me to use at home.

    I wouldn`t recommend eating chocolate bars and crisps to put in weight.That way you`ll gain fat,not weight!Try slighty bigger portions at your work`s restaurant,or for snacks,fruit,nuts,etc.
    And aim for some exercise!Don`t worry too much about no gym,there`s plenty you could do at home to tone and develop muscle.Get some second hand dumbells,do press ups,sit ups,stretches,walk and run,there`s lot`s there!

    eat a lot! I mean a lot! and drink lots of water!

    Nutrition is 60 - 70 percent of working out. eating the right foods can significantly increase your weight, even while working out.

    Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, they're natural fiber and sugars, and keep you energized. and eat carbs. It sounds like you are an ectomorph (stay skinny naturally), so the carbs won't affect you as much.

    I recently gained 30+ pounds in about 5 months from eating properly and working out regularly (and I'm a super-ecto).

    My eating habits probably wouldn't work for most, but I had carbs and protein at every meal. My favorite is the pound of massed potatoes I have for lunch everyday with my sandwiches and pasta. Probably overboard for everyone, but it worked for me.

    and cut out all the extraneous sugars/junk food/etc. they don't help.

    and the last trick my doctor told me - STOP DRINKING COFFEE... It jump starts the metabolism and junks the system. I have one small cup a day now (very early in the morning) and water the rest of the day.
