Today 6/16 is the first day that California's legalization of gay marriage takes effect
    at the sametime
Florida's legislature is setting up a smoke screen to get Republicans to the polls this November
and OF COURSE it has to do with us Gays

they are trying to pass another ban on gay marriage
not that they NEED it there are already 4 laws on the books that do the samething
but this one goes further and seems to ban even possible civil unions

"Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."

I swear these knuckle dragging mugwumps are a riot icon_confused.gif

It is very obvious that some of the right wing politicians in Florida have nothing better to do then waste tax money and time on more unnecessary, idiotic marriage laws. If they already have four statutes on the books defining marriage as only between a man and a women, why do they need another law? Oh well, Florida is a typical southern state so I am not suprised by this ultra conservative idiocy. I am very happy to see that California is light years ahead of Florida on social and political issues.

Between the military bases and the blue hairs, Florida is hopelessly conservative if not entirely Republican.
