Which Pride celebration? -- there are now TWO in Montréal: DivérsCité (which is the first weekend in August to correspond with the Canadian civic holiday the first Monday of the month), which is essentially a weekend-long dance party (with Canadian songstress Deborah Cox to perform a PWYC concert on Sunday night parc Émilie-Gamelin)http://www.diverscite.org
; and Fierté Aug 14 - 17, which took up what DivérCité no longer wanted to do, including community-based events and the parade. http://www.fiertemontrealpride.com/home.htm
I went to DivérsCité last year, and Fierté was the weekend before (last year was the first year), and according to everyone, Fierté was amazing...so much so few of the locals seemed to come out to DivérCité. It was dead, or at least there was a severe lack of energy there.
Oh, and don't forget to mention that St-Catherine street in the Village has been closed off to cars for several weeks & will be so until September -- there are open patios (called "terraces" in Montréal) everywhere, everyday.
