Being a dog owner of four dogs the oldest being 15, so one would never wish an animal harm, no matter who owns them.

Put one finds it amusing who people turn to religion and the power of prayers when they are down and out or wanting something; but one will not kick you while you are down as you would I.

I pray your dog will not be in pain and not suffer.

TM, we have our differences, but I can sure put them aside to sympathize with you during this difficult time. I went through this just a few months ago with my little "Muffin" and I know all too well what you're feeling right now. Sending prayers and BIG HUGS from AZ.

I'm terribly sorry about your troubling times. I've been searching for the right poem to post for you. And throughout the searching I have cried my eyes out just thinking of what this must be like for you. I couldn't imagine, but rest assured everything happens for a reason, no matter how unfair or depressing it may be.

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then will you do what must be done,

For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

But don't let grief then stay your hand,

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn't want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end

And hold me firm and speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,

It is a kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you,

    Who has to decide this thing to do;

We've been so close,we two, these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Having benefited for years from the unconditional love of his pet dog Buddy, when Budd got old and ill and unable to express to his master where it hurt, Siddhartha Gautama came to the realization that all of life is suffering.

Every time I pet my dog I said to him: you're going to break my heart some day. Then one day while walking him through the neighborhood, some little kid came over at the school fence and asked "how much did your dog cost?"

Sorrow is a hard price to pay for a pet.

    Peace.

    Aww poor puppy!
I hope it's not as bad as it seems.
I don't pray, but I pile my support on top of everyone else's here in case it makes these times easier on you both.

    So sorry for you both.

One of my babies had a similar diagnosis a couple of years ago. We attempted surgery, but she did not survive. It was sudden and devastating.

On the other hand, sometimes good things happen. The other twin had a bad episode last month - though not cancer. She bounced back from emergency surgery and seems years younger now. This bill was much easier to pay

Maybe the vet can give her some strong antibiotics. Or maybe remove the spleen. Hope and pray there is something that can be done. Losing an animal is like losing a relative. Prayers for you and your daughter. Amen.
