ConfederateGhost saidThe few lines you just wrote expose to the rest of us who are unbiased, that you've no true concern with helping our country. If you don't believe compromise and solutions start on the basic level...on a community level, then all you are doing is furthering the rift. How can we expect our representatives to do what we are not willing to do ourselves?

If we don't learn now to meet in the middle, there won't be a middle to meet at.

ConfederateGhost saidThis country is on 10,000 ft free-fall path towards solid concrete ground, yet all we fucking hear about is "republicans this" and "democrats that"

There's a lot of finger pointing amongst y'all and not enough compromise and solutions.

    ▲This.

    Nope.

It's not up to us RJ members to reach "compromise" and find "solutions" to the problems that face our country.
It's up to our elected representatives to do that.
    It's THEIR JOB.

Given the fact that they've failed to do that (as we can all agree) - its totally appropriate to point fingers at the jackasses in Congress who have failed to reach compromises or find solutions.

And FYI - bitching about "finger pointing" is in itself just more "finger pointing".

    You entirely misunderstand my point.
I'm not saying that at a community level we shouldn't compromise.
    We're not talking about that.
We're talking about posting comments on the blogs here - and you objected to the "finger pointing".

My point is that we don't have the power to solve the problems our country faces - our representatives in power do.
When they fail to do that we have the responsibility to hold them accountable. (AKA - point fingers)
By doing that we show that we're "concerned with helping our country".

Criticizing the two political parties on these blog threads is about holding our representatives accountable.
And FYI I give credit to the Repubs who post on the blog threads here for caring about our country - even if I disagree with the substance of their posts.
Unlike you I would never question anyone's concern for our country.
    (That's below the belt BTW).

The fact is that when it comes to pointing fingers - Independents are the most guilty if you think about it.
    Dems only (mostly) blame Repubs.
    Repubs only (mostly) blame Dems.
    But Indys blame BOTH parties.
    That's twice the "finger pointing"!

    Thanks, freedom.

It seems sometimes like Independents think that they're morally superior to Dems and Repubs.
    They're not.

They're no better - or worse.
