    Hello all,

My bf and I are planning a trip in a couple months over to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, but are still unsure of which cities to hit. For sure on our list is Barcelona, but other than that, we're looking for advice.

Has anyone done a similar trip? I've been looking into Madrid and Lisbon, but completely unsure of whether or not to travel into Morocco a ways (possibly Casablanca?) or just to stay in the Tangier area.

Any recommendations? We are open to any suggestions!

I did a Spain and Morocco trip in winter 2001/2002. Barcelona is fantastic! I would also recommend Madrid (3+ days), Seville (2 days), and Granada (1 day is fine). Plan your days reasonably well. Siesta is still observed in the south and lots of places will close for 2-3 hours midday. Dinner often doesn't begin until 8pm or later.

The ferry from Algeciras to Morocco is relatively quick and easy. When you arrive in Morocco, be prepared to deal with people trying to sell you everything imaginable, including their tourism services as soon as you step off the dock. It can be overwhelming if you're not ready and don't have a plan to deal with it. Also, if you're traveling in winter (or close to it), Morocco may be somewhat chilly. I didn't find anyplace that had decent heat and was often cold. Due to both of those factors, I cut my stay in Morocco short, staying in Fez only 3 days or so.

    Have a great trip!

If you will be traveling to Barcelona in summer, definitely go to Sitges, a (very gay) beach resort town, 1/2 hour by train to the West of Barcelona. One could go for the day, but as it is a quaint old city but with lots of gay evening venues, is a great place to spend some time.

you should travel southwards from lisbon along the coast it's really beautiful. Lagos in the algarve is a really nice historic town as is Sagres(not much there but nice to stop off in)

Hahaha much. If you can fit into my suitcase, you're welcome to come along!!!

I think our plan (as of last night) is to take trains from city to city, so if that goes along the coastline, we'll for sure do that! Thanks for the tips vitamin! We will have to work our meal times out so we don't get hungry for dinner at 4 pm haha.
