I completely use instagram but I also still rework things in photoshop because its never -PERFECT-. I must have perfect. I really dont see the problem people have with it. You can do the same thing with an expensive camera lens, but who wants to pay 4 grand when theres Instagram or Photoshop?

Because 99% of Instagram users go overboard with borders and filters on pictures of nonsense.

    Here's a question for etymologists:
Why do we say photograph rather than photogram?
Graphs are recording devices (the camera)
    Grams are the record.

For example, I work with chromatography, the machine is a chromatograph, the printout is a chromatogram.
Doesn't -gram and -graph have the same word origins? I feel like this is on the same level of catsup and ketchup.

    An insta-gram.

Americans might not get the joke, because it's in metric. There are about 28 grams to an ounce, which is important to know if you come to Canada and buy weed.

We use metric in Biology and Chemistry... At least my schools did... And medicine

From the OED:Etymology:  < photo- comb. form + -graph comb. form, after photographic adj., photography n. Compare French photographe photographer (1842; 1841 in an isolated attestation in sense ‘photography’ or ‘photographic apparatus’; 1836 in an isolated attestation in sense ‘author who writes about light’), photographie photographic proof, photograph (1854).

Our youngest, 22 going on 40, proclaimed that Instagram "protects my privacy from someone using or sharing any suggestive pictures I decide to send". Since that, we've shut our minds on it FIRMly.

And we're not THAT OLD that we don't get that she's an adult and can make her own decisions and probably whatever she's sending is probably g-rated, but sometimes being a parent is...... trying.
