That's fine. I'll just ban all positive pics of Ukraine. Shouldn't be too hard.

did u really wanna go there?
It was just an option. My latest quasi-goal in life (already accomplished childhood dreams(s) was to see the all the 7 natural wonders of the world from the air...just saw the Grand Canyon this weekend (aerial tour)...6 more to go.

Once I finish those, if Ukraine's govt is still run by assholes, it'll still be off my list.

If not, it seems like it could potentially be a pretty fun place to visit.

    What wonder is in Ukraine?
    Hot Ukrainian studs. Duh!

LOL! I wonder if there are any?
Hot Ukrainian studs. I wouldn't post it as fact if you couldn't google it. icon_wink.gif

I'm surprised the Ukrainian government hasn't gone after this group to eliminate them unless they all live abroad now.

Plus lots of washed up Soviet has-beens who had their fame in the '80s and '90s and have had extensive, terrible plastic surgery since (e.g. Iryna Bilyk).

skykey saidYou people have little faith in the gay community if you believe that this little bill will hurt the gay community. Gays will survive like they always have.

The problem is that gays survived as closet cases. The point is to be accepted as all contributing minority groups should. Our positive visual and vocal presence is necessary to get accepted into all society.

Dallasfan824 said If a group of lawmakers have their way, TV shows and movies depicting gay people could be banned in Ukraine.

Last month, six legislators, including President Viktor Yanukovych's representative in parliament, submitted a law that calls for prohibiting the "propaganda of homo-sexuality." If passed, the law would impose fines and even jail terms on those who deliberately disseminate positive information about gays to minors. Anything from movies, television series, photographs and even art exhibits viewable by children would become illegal.

Lawmaker Pavlo Ungurian, who co-wrote the bill, told a news conference Monday that its goal was to preserve "the moral, spiritual and physical health of the nation."

The bill has caused outrage among Western rights groups and politicians who said it would make being openly gay effectively illegal.
This is just the typical primitive minded thinking that continues to plague much of Eastern Europe, especially the former Soviet Republics and their giant neighbor, Russia. It is the same old, foolhardy propaganda and hyperbole about gay men being regurgitated across national boundaries in that part of the world. What else is newicon_question.gificon_mad.gif

Oh yeah I keep forgetting about the "gay friendly" countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe where gay men are condemned to death sentences.

And some policies, or lack of policies, in the U.S. are still mild compared to Ukraine. But how does this make any of the anti-gay policies okay?

I didn't say it's okay, but some people seemed to be overly dramatic. This forum doesn't seem to harbor the best of memories.

Ukraine, Russia and other countries like those have a very religious way of life. I lived and studied with a russian girl and before she could accept who I am who I liked she was really hard to handle. And her ukraine friend was the same :/
a friend and I had to sit down with her and discuss with her about human rights and justice and put her in my place. 2 h later she was more open minded. Still when I asked her about if she'd be ok if one day her son or dauther turned out to be gay, she told me that she'd kill them -.-

I grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia. Came to America, when I was 7 years old. Knowing Eastern European/Slovak culture....Gay rights are LIGHT YEARS ahead in America! There was even a hug protest when a Gay Pride parade was gonna be held about 5 years ago. Thing about Slovaks, they know there are homosexual Russians/Ukrainians/Belarussians, However, they are in DENIAL. Remember when T.a.t.U came out like 10 years ago, and in the "all the things she said song" they say "Mne Nuzhna Ona" "I need her" My mother made it clear, I was not to listen to that song, or buy the CD. It was CD's back then, no iTunes. lol Russia is still slowly warming up to Western Culture, it's gonna be a while before they even acknowledge gays. Tak Zhal!!!!!

Reminds me of when Margaret Thatcher's government passed a similar law in the UK. Oh, and of course several noodles in the USA and Canada of the zealot-kind. Oops, and Aussie Gillard too. Must be 'coming-out' time.

You're in way over your head. It is out of your means. The best that outsiders can do is express their opinions and then leave it at that.

If you really cared and wanted equality for all you would, by now, be climbing the ranks in postgrad study with the intention of entering politics and diplomacy, so that your opinions would at least be considered. This is standard procedure.

Until then, it is just another addition to your individual 'Want' Tower, because the world has no use for sentiment.
