Sorry but hmm.. Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a dream) >>>>>> any of them.

I forgot about her , I would put her in one of the top spots. She does give a very intense, raw performance in that movie ( which is one of my favorites) but still I don't see all the subtle nuances that make Meryl Streep or Nicole Kidman's performances so enjoyable to watch. [/quote]

I dont think Kidman nor Streep could pull off that Requiem role

The late Geraldine Page is my favorite actress. She was simply fabulous. I also like Vivien Leigh.

Modern day I like Tilda Swinton, Blanchett, Streep, Judi Dench, Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman...pretty much everyone mentioned on here.

Oh and Isabelle Fuhrman she is a fabulous young actress from "Orphan" and "The Hunger Games". I can't wait to see what she does in 10-15 years.

I know I'm forgetting some. But a few of my favorites:

    Jennifer Saunders
    Sissy Spacek
    Sigourney Weaver
    Anjelica Huston
    Glenn Close
    Holly Hunter
    Geena Davis
    Jodie Foster
    Susan Sarandon
    Parker Posey
    Janeane Garofalo
    Julia Roberts
    Faye Dunaway
    Carol Burnett
    Whoopi Goldberg
    Uma Thurman
    Salma Hayek
    Winona Ryder
    Maggie Gyllenhaal
    Bette Midler
    Reese Witherspoon
and Jennifer Connelly - although I'll never forget what she said about Dario Argento's Phenomena, can't forgive her for that (even if a monkey did rip off part of her finger onset)

Oh, and... I might be the only person in the world who thinks Tara Reid is a good actress. Seriously. I thought she was by far the only tolerable thing in Dr. T and the Women and she was hilarious and smart on Scrubs.

Best by far...Angela Bassett (Malcolm X, Waiting to Exhale...others)

    Waiting to Exhale:
Scene: raging while throwing her cheating exhusband's clothes out, "...get yo' shit! Get yo' shit....!!!"

Scene: Ex husband's car burning in the driveway, standing in the the doorway draggin' on a cigarette. Fireman: "Maam, if this ever happens again...", Angela, very cooly, " It won't." DAM! Now that's actingicon_twisted.gif lol

Sarah Michelle Gellar is a underrated actress, even though she's been in some bad films, her acting ability is amazing.

    The 10 most talented actresses

    In no particular order

Michelle Pfeiffer (in almost every movie)

    Bette Davis (All about Eve)

Marilyn Monroe (Don't bother to knock)

    Natalie Portman (Black Swan)

    Nicole Kidman (The Others)

Elizabeth Taylor (Cat on a hot tin roof)

Jodie Foster (Silence of the lamb)

    Meryl Streep (Devil wears Prada)

    Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany)

    Julianne Moore (Far from heaven)

Not to forget:, Shirley Mac Claine, Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, Angelina Jolie, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Whoopi Goldberg

Michelle is an underrated talented actress. I think most of the people are
more stunned by her look than her acting skills, which is really sad. She's so versatile, can play in every genre. She's able to play a meaty, a funny or a mean role. It shows, she has a wide range, when it comes to acting. The same goes to Marilyn. In my opinion she's not a bad actress. She's more than a great comedienne. If you watch Bus stop, she really gave a good performance. She was only stigmatized as "sex symbol". No wonder, she got offered dumb blonde roles mostly.
